Match Report
Hope Valley started brightly and following a break by Nicholls, Aldwinians conceded a penalty, Spencer kicking just wide. The Aldwinians referee provoked anger amongst the travelling support with a string of decisions favouring the home side. An Aldwinians scrum near the Valley line produced the opening try to their experienced pack, which was unconverted 5-0. Valley responded with a great run from Hudson and Nicholls resulting in the ball being held up over Aldwinians line. An injury to Boundy forced an early substitution, with Charmasson coming on. Further Valley pressure just lacked the final pass, coming in at half time 5-0 down.
The second half started scrappily, with errors halting play. Valley won another penalty but once again the kick went wide. Valley kept up the pressure, and a kick through from Mosley put pressure again in the Aldwinians half. Another great break by Nicholls was halted yet again by another error. Valley replaced Ryder on the wing with Woodhouse, and kept up the pressure with a kick through by Will Wain, forcing Aldwinians to concede a lineout on their 22. However Valley pressure was undermined by giving away a penalty for dissent. The Valley backs again put on the pressure, with a break by the ever threatening Nicholls close to the opposition line. Valley finally got themselves back into the game with a break down the right resulting in Hudson scoring under the posts, converted by Spencer 5-7. Valley won another penalty but yet again the kick went wide of the posts. Valleys fitness levels shone through, with the teams confidence up now we had taken the lead. More strong running on the right by Woodhouse, and some clever handling, produced a fine try by the captain Hodgson, with Spencer converting to make it 5-14. Valley kept up the pressure right to the final whistle, with yet another fine try to Hudson under the posts, making it ten tries for him already this season. The conversion was taken by Spencer, to make it 5-21 at the final whistle, with Valley retaining their place at the top of the table.

Match Report
Hope Valley, playing uphill for the first half, put Stockport under instant pressure with a break by Dave Everard forcing the visitors to concede a penalty in front of the posts which was kicked by Ric Spencer, 3-0. From the restart Stockport turned the ball over and poor tackling allowed them to score in the bottom corner, 3-5.
Valley put the pressure back on from the restart, with Stockport conceding two penalties and a smart penalty move from the last one saw Dave Ryder scoring a try out wide 8-5. A kick through caused panic in the Stockport defence, and Tom Hodgson broke from the back of the resulting scrum to score under the posts, converted by Ric Spencer to give a 15-5 lead. Further stout defending and hard tackling by Paul Nicholls kept up the pressure, and a break by Dave Warren resulted in the referee awarding a penalty try, converted by Spencer to make the lead 22-5.
Following a break due to injury Valley kept their foot on the gas , with a breakaway try by second row Lee Hutchinson for 29-5 after the conversion. They ended the first half with another try to Hodgson breaking off the back of the scrum again, making it 34-5.
Playing downhill in the second half, Valley showed their pace with a breakaway converted try to vice captain Dave Warren, 41-5. More pressure on Stockports line allowed Gary Allen to score from a lineout , 48-5. Valley pressed yet again, and Ric Spencer scored from a quickly taken penalty 53-5. Stockport then exerted some rare pressure on Valleys line, but the ball was cleared back down the field. Yet again Valley pressed, and Tom Hodgson scored again to give him a hat trick which was converted 60-5.
A break from Nicholls created another try for the prolific Hodgson 67-5. Following an injury to Warren, Valley conceded a try to Stockport 67-12, but their recovery was brief. More downhill pressure produced a strong driven try by Steve Boundy, 74-12, then a solo breakaway try by Dean Ancell, 79-12, and a pushover try for Gary Allen 84-12. The match was rounded off with a breakaway try to Paul Nicholls, converted by Spencer to make the final score 91-12. Yet another convincing win for Hope Valley, who remain unbeaten at the top of the table.
