Training and Pre-Season Games

As the new season approaches an update on where we are with pre-season preparation.

Pre-season training has been excellent with a great turnout each week (20+). Anyone who is interested it getting involved and ready for the new season can turn up at 7pm on Thursdays, usually at Castleton playing fields. For further information contact Tom.

In addition to this we have some summer warm-up events coming up:

Matlock 10s & Beer Festival

Yes, that really is a beer festival and a rugby tournament, together at last, with music and entertainment in the evening.

This is happening on Saturday the 7th of August and anyone interested in playing, or supporting/drinking should come along. Contact Tom if you want to play as we will have to sort out the squad in advance or if you want further information.

Hope Valley vs Bakewell @ S. Anslems School

As part of the S. Anslems School rugby fun day we will be playing Bakewell.

This is happening on Saturday the 14th of August – if you can play then please get in touch with Tom ASAP.

Pre-Season Training on 1st July

The Hope Valley pre-season training starts next week. The details are:

Pre-Season Announcement

Hope Valley RUFC are already looking forward to next season which will see them playing in the newly named University of Salford North West League 4 East. Following on from 2009/10s record breaking season, the club has reappointed Tom Hodgson as 1st XV Captain with Dave Warren remaining as Vice Captain.

The club has also appointed Nigel Winder as 2nd team captain with a view to running a regular social/vets side. Whilst the club wants to continue its progress up the leagues, we also want to keep on being a friendly local community rugby club and are looking forward to our 31st season.

Hope Valley are holding an extraordinary general meeting on Thursday 17th of June at The Peaks Inn, Castleton, starting at 7pm. Everyone interested in the club can attend. This will formulate our plans for next season, including pre season training and club development. Anyone interested in playing for the club is more than welcome , and can contact Club Captain Tom Hodgson on 07876 527049.

Club Dinner and Annual Awards

After a few days to recover I have finally got around to updating the site, the 30th anniversary dinner was a huge success, with a great number of people out to support the club and celebrate our success.

The committiee would like to thanks every single person who came and helped to make it such a special evening (for those of use who stand a chance of remembering it, John Boy). We would also like to give even more thanks, if thats even possible, to everyone who helped to organise the night – you know who you are.

Hope Valley RUFC Annual Dinner

Details for the annual club dinner are now confirmed.

The dinner will be held on Friday May 1st at the Maynard Hotel in Grindleford. The evening will be charged at £27.50 a head for the meal.

We will have the club awards and a disco. Arrival time should be 7pm, with the meal starting at 7.30 and finishing around 1pm. Could everyone try and stick to these times so we don’t cut into the drinking time

As a reminder this is a formal occasion with dinner suits, bow ties and evening dresses for the ladies. For those without suits, black trousers with white shirts are the only exceptions apart from kilts!!

Please contact Steve Richardson (07973 709286) or Colin Field (07887 841096) ASAP if you want to attend so catering requirements can be finalised. If you do not know anyone organising a table then please mention this when you call so that seating can be arranged.

Hope Valley RUFC AGM

The club AGM will be held on Saturday 18th April, 12.00pm, in the Peak Castleton. This is before the away game at Buxton.

Committee Nominations – There will be a list going up in the Peak from April the 8th for anyone to propose, nominate or second any person as a committee member.

All players or non players are welcome.

Sale Sharks host rugby camp at Hope Valley College

Sale Sharks will be hosting a rugby camp at Hope Valley College!

The camp will take place from the 27th – 29th May 2008 over the Spring Bank Holidays.

It will include two days coaching at the College and a trip to Carrington to the Sale Sharks training facility.
